Ericsson to Deploy 3G/HSPA Network in India for Aircel

Indian mobile operator Aircel has granted Ericsson a contract to deploy 3G/HSPA (Evolved High-Speed Packet Access) network in Aircel's six geographic market areas in India, according to a November 15, 2010 press release by Ericsson. It is estimated that currently, Aircel serves more than 100 million subscribers in these six areas. As per the contract, Ericsson is expected to provide core, radio, and transmission network equipment and related services and radio network optimization and support services. It is reported that network deployment has already begun and is scheduled to be completed in 2012. Financial details of the contract is yet to be disclosed.
